Tony Pulis: 'James McClean must be careful'

West Bromwich Albion Tony Pulis admits that James McClean needs to be "careful" after the winger avoided an FA charge for celebrating in front of Sunderland fans last week.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has acknowledged that winger James McClean must learn from last week's post-match incident against Sunderland.

After the Baggies completed a 1-0 win, McClean celebrated in front of his former club's supporters, causing a scuffle between both sets of players.

The Irishman avoided an FA charge, but Pulis has admitted that the midfielder must be "careful" in the future.

The 57-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I have had a chat with him. You have got to be careful what you do today.

"He was taking stick all game and I think he saluted our supporters on that side and the Sunderland supporters were there. Doing that to the Sunderland supporters, he has just got to be careful. He was absolutely delighted that we won and it was against his old club, which gives it added spice.

"You have got to be cool and calm, and hold yourself back at times, and James has to do that. He is a good lad and he has integrated fantastically within the group, he has just got to be careful."

West Brom's win moved them into 13th spot in the Premier League table.
