Watford's Gianfranco Zola delighted with win

Watford manager Gianfranco Zola is delighted with his side's 1-0 win at Birmingham City on the opening day of the Championship season.

Watford manager Gianfranco Zola has revealed that he was pleased with his team's resilience in their 1-0 win against Birmingham City.

The Hornets got their Championship season off to the perfect start by returning home with all three points, as Troy Deeney's first-half goal sealed the victory.

"It was a very good result against a tough team," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's good to see that we showed some resilience and kept our concentration until the end. Sometimes we lacked that last year and hopefully we can improve that.

"We worked a lot on understanding. We look forward to improving our conditioning, and we will be able to keep the ball for longer spells."

Watford will look to secure consecutive league victories when they take on Bournemouth at Vicarage Road next weekend.
