Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko has insisted that everyone thought that his side should have been awarded a goal during their 1-0 defeat to England.
The co-hosts thought they had equalised when Marko Devic's effort was partially stopped by Joe Hart before John Terry appeared to clear it off the line but the goal was not given.
However, replays showed that the whole ball had crossed the line and Shevchenko believes that an equaliser could have changed the game.
"I don't know. I don't want to create some polemic or something. Everyone knows it was a goal," said Shevchenko.
"The same thing happened with England in the World Cup. Now we lose the game.
"We tried. I think that Ukraine played well today. We scored a goal, you know. We know now it was a goal. Maybe that could have changed the whole game."
Afterwards, the Dynamo Kiev striker announced his retirement from international football.
