Frank Lampard to join New York City FC in MLS for 2015

Frank Lampard will join MLS side New York City FC for the 2015 season.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard will sign for New York City next week.

The Major League Soccer newcomers will complete the signing of the 36-year-old after his release from Chelsea this summer.

Lampard joins fellow new recruit David Villa, who joined New York City earlier this year.

The franchise, owned by Manchester City, will join the MLS season in 2015.

Lampard may opt to accompany Villa in joining New York City's sister club in Melbourne to gain fitness, according to BBC Sport.

The England midfielder has won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
