Swansea City 'not spending big money'

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has hinted that the club will not continue to be lavish in the transfer market in the coming years.

Swansea City fans have been warned not to expect a wave of big-money arrivals at the Liberty Stadium despite breaking their transfer record this summer.

The Swans spent £12m on bringing Ivory Coast striker Wilfred Bony to the club, but chairman Huw Jenkins told a fans' forum that the outlay made him feel uncomfortable.

He said: "This summer was the first time where we agreed to spend that money on one player, and personally I don't like the idea of doing it.

"We should be finding players who are suitable to us and who arrive for figures that are easier to sleep with."

Michael Laudrup's men entertain table-topping Liverpool on Monday night before travelling to Spain to face Valencia in the Europa League.
