Swansea City boss Garry Monk hits out at 'agenda-driven critics'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk believes that recent reports regarding his management style and future prospects have been taken out of context by those with an agenda.

Garry Monk has claimed that recent rumours suggesting that his Swansea City job is on the line have been created by outsiders who have an "agenda" against him.

The 36-year-old has come under increasing pressure of late after seeing his side pick up just one win from their last eight Premier League games.

Monk's situation was not helped by midfield ace Gylfi Sigurdsson recently claiming that his club manager 'rarely communicates' with players - comments which he has since backtracked on.

In the wake of further speculation over his future, coming on the back of a 1-0 defeat at Norwich City prior to the international break, the Englishman insisted that he does not see Saturday's game against Bournemouth as being pivotal.

"I've been disappointed with some of the things which have been written," he told reporters. "A lot of it has been irresponsible. I think it's people trying to take things out of context and having an agenda behind it.

"If I spent my time worrying about those things you wouldn't be able to do your job."

Swansea find themselves five points above the drop zone heading into their weekend meeting with the Cherries.
