Sebastian Larsson: 'Sunderland showing signs of progress'

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson reckons that his side played well enough in their goalless draw against West Browmich Albion without getting the luck to win.

Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson believes that his side are showing signs of improvement at home despite their goalless draw against West Bromwich Albion.

The Black Cats drew for the seventh time at the Stadium of Light this season as they were forced to settle for a point which does not ease their relegation woes.

However, Larsson feels that they are showing signs of progress in spite of not getting decisions in their favour, as Joleon Lescott escaped a red card for the Baggies, while Adam Johnson saw his goal ruled out for offside.

Larsson told the club's official website: "We will try and take the positives out of the game because that's what you have to do to get better and progress. Obviously everyone can see that we were the team trying to win but it wasn't to be today.

"We tried as hard as we could to pin them back and they had a lot of men behind the ball, but you also need the decisions to go for you and you need to deserve your luck as well and we probably haven't following the last two games. It was a step in the right direction."

Sunderland are 16th in the Premier League table, three points clear of the relegation zone.
