Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has admitted that the club is likely to be quiet during the January transfer window.
The Potters are currently in 13th place in the Premier League table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
While he claims that signing players on loan could be a possibility next month, Hughes is not expecting to spend big money on improving his squad.
"We won't be spending any significant amounts of money I would suggest," he told Sky Sports News. "We may look at loans, we may look at opportunities to bring younger players if they are available but any significant business in terms of financial outlay, I don't think we will be doing that.
"We only have a certain amount of money we can spend in any given season and it may be that we keep what we have and invest in the summer which would probably make more sense."
Stoke are back in action on Boxing Day when they face Everton at Goodison Park in the league.
