Roberto Martinez says that Harry Kane is now performing at "the highest level in world football" following another impressive goalscoring campaign for the striker.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that he is wary of Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane ahead of his side's meeting with England at the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has finished top scorer of the Premier League in successive campaigns and has another 24 goals to his name this time around.

Kane's return from injury in Tottenham's win over Chelsea on Sunday means that he should be fit and firing by the time the World Cup comes around, and Martinez has talked up the striker's talents a little under three months before Belgium lock horns with England in a Group G clash.

"If you are looking at Harry Kane's level of form, he is someone who has evolved incredibly over the last four years," he told Sky Sports News. "You are looking at young players using games to game, and Harry Kane has got into the highest level in world football.

"My management career has been in the British game, I have been 21 years in the British game so I have a huge attachment to England. I would not like to face England in the knockout stage, it is all or nothing and I do not think it would be a nice story.

"At the moment we are in the group stage so there is a little bit of a margin of error. And then you do not face each other until the final. So from that point of view, when you let it settle, it is the best possible outcome."

Kane, who has scored 12 goals in 23 appearances for England, missed both of the Three Lions' spring friendlies due to injury.
