Tottenham Hotspur reportedly identify two strikers who could replace Harry Kane following his move to Bayern Munich last summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez and Brentford's Ivan Toney as potential replacements for Harry Kane.

Spurs lost the services of their all-time top goalscorer last summer after Kane decided to complete a move to German giants Bayern Munich.

Tottenham are yet to find a replacement for the England captain despite it being nearly a year since he bid farewell to the North London club.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou utilised Richarlison and Son Heung-min as his main forward options last season, with the pair scoring 11 and 17 Premier League goals respectively.

While those are respectable numbers, Postecoglou will be determined to recruit a new number nine ahead of his second campaign as Tottenham head coach.

Spurs tracking Gimenez and Toney

According to Football Insider, Tottenham currently view Gimenez and Toney as their two 'ideal replacements' for Kane.

Spurs are said to be long-term admirers of Gimenez, while Toney is an appealing option due to his wealth of Premier League experience.

Gimenez, who has previously been linked with Arsenal, is currently under contract with Feyenoord until the summer of 2027.

Meanwhile, Brentford are likely to entertain offers for Toney, with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season.

It has previously been reported that the Bees could still demand £60m despite the potential risk of Toney leaving on a free transfer next summer.

How do Gimenez and Toney compare?

Gimenez is attracting plenty of interest after scoring 23 goals in 30 league appearances to finish the 2023-24 campaign as the Eredivisie's top scorer.

In total, the 23-year-old has racked up 49 goals in 86 competitive matches since joining Ajax from Mexican side Cruz Azul in the summer of 2022.

Gimenez has been unable to transfer his domestic form onto the international stage, having scored just four goals in 30 appearances for Mexico.

While Gimenez failed to score in Mexico's disappointing Copa America campaign, Toney has earned plaudits for his contribution to England's efforts at Euro 2024.

The Brentford man provided the assist for the winner in the quarter-final against Slovenia, before scoring one of the five penalties in the shootout success in Saturday's semi-final clash with Switzerland.

In contrast to Gimenez, Toney experienced a difficult 2023-24 season, missing the first half of the campaign due to a betting ban, before mustering four goals in 17 league matches.

However, Toney has impressed during his time with the Bees, having registered 72 goals in 141 matches across all competitions.
