Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the summer signing of Atalanta BC centre-back Cristian Romero.
The Serie A outfit are prepared to accept the north London club's offer of £42.7m plus add-ons for the 23-year-old, with the deal expected to rise to around £47m.
According to Sky Sports News, Romero is keen to move to Spurs this summer and is ready to fly to London imminently to complete a medical and finalise personal terms.
The report also states that Atalanta are wasting no time in finding a replacement, as they have entered negotiations to sign Juventus defender Merih Demiral as well as Lille's Sven Botman.
Romero was a key figure in the heart of Atalanta's defence last season – winning Serie A Defender of the Year – before helping Argentina defeat Brazil in the Copa America final last month.
The centre-back made 42 club appearances across all competitions last season and was part of a defence which kept 12 clean sheets.
