Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to activate the buyback clause in Sergio Reguilon's contract at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old joined Spurs from Los Blancos in September 2020, and he has represented the English club on 60 occasions in all competitions, contributing one goal and nine assists in the process.
A buyback clause was included in the sale, though, with Real Madrid having the ability to bring him back to Bernabeu for a fee in the region of £43m.
According to The Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti's side view the Spaniard as the ideal replacement for Marcelo, who will be leaving the Spanish giants on a free transfer at the end of June.
Los Blancos are allegedly desperate to sign competition for Ferland Mendy this summer, and the club have until the end of May to decide whether they wish to re-sign Reguilon ahead of next season.
The Spurs full-back represented Real Madrid on 22 occasions during his time at the club, while he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Sevilla during the 2019-2020 campaign.
