Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy acknowledges that he 'cannot close the door' on a potential transfer to the Premier League in January.

Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy has said that he will 'not close any doors' on a potential transfer to the Premier League.

Before the start of 2023-24, Guirassy was viewed as a notable name on the continent through spells with Amiens, Rennes and Stuttgart, yet not to the extent where high-profile clubs were knocking at the door for his signature.

The Guinea international had never scored more than 11 league goals in a single season, yet that has already changed in the current campaign having made the permanent switch to Stuttgart.

Guirassy remarkably has 14 goals from just eight Bundesliga appearances during a period that included two hat-tricks and two doubles, while there have been five instances where he has at least two goal and assist contributions.

A hamstring injury has led to the 27-year-old not featuring since October 21, but his form during the early months of the season has led to widespread interest.

A £17.5m release clause is said to become active in January, a figure that is naturally viewed as attractive by a wide array of Premier League clubs.

As it stands, Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham have each been credited with the strongest interest in the French-born forward ahead of the turn of the year.

With Stuttgart in the hunt for Champions League qualification, a mid-season transfer is not a foregone conclusion, yet Guirassy has admitted that it will be considered if an opportunity arises.

Speaking to The Guardian, Guirassy said: "I cannot hide these things – everyone knows the Premier League is one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

"But at this time I don't close any doors. There are some very big teams in Europe and it's not focused only on the Premier League.

"At Stuttgart we have such a good team and everything is possible in football. If we can continue to be humble like we have been so far then we have a good chance."

With Spurs and Fulham having sold Harry Kane and Aleksandar Mitrovic in the summer and not acquiring a direct replacement, they each have money to spend in January.

Although Spurs are well stocked for options in the final third and have scored 23 goals in 11 top-flight games, Fulham have netted just nine times, the joint-second-worst attacking return in the division.
