Tim Sherwood: 'The win is huge, but we can play better'

Tim Sherwood says that Tottenham Hotspur can play better, but is delighted with the 1-0 win against Everton.

Tim Sherwood has described Tottenham Hotspur's 1-0 win against Everton as a "huge result".

The Toffees had chances to take the lead but went behind when Emmanuel Adebayor lashed home in the second half, and Spurs held on for the win to climb to fifth in the Premier League.

"Emmanuel Adebayor took his goal well. We are delighted with the result. Yes the performance can be better but it's about character and grinding it out," Sherwood told BBC Sport.

"I thought we were chalk and cheese between the two halves. Hugo Lloris was good for us in the first half.

"It was a huge result. It was a cup final. Sometimes people take cups and don't play very well."

Spurs are up against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
