Scott Parker takes up coaching and ambassadorial role with Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur announce that former midfielder Scott Parker has been handed a coaching and ambassadorial role with the North London outfit.

Scott Parker has said that it is a "great honour" to have been given a coaching and ambassadorial role at Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier this week, Parker - who spent two years of his career at Spurs - announced that he was retiring from professional football with immediate effect.

However, he has already been provided with his first non-playing role with Spurs revealing that he has agreed to become a coach for their Under-18 side, as well as fulfilling an ambassadorial position with the North London outfit.

The 36-year-old told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to be back at Tottenham and look forward to immersing myself in the job.

"Obviously it wasn't an easy decision to call time on my playing career though I'm looking forward to this new chapter and am grateful to Spurs for handing me this opportunity at such an exciting time in the Club's history.

"It is a great honour to represent the Club both as a coach and ambassador."

As well as earning 18 caps for England, Parker also represented Charlton Athletic, Norwich City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Fulham.
