Mauricio Pochettino frustrated by "soft" Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino offers no excuses for Tottenham Hotspur's display after watching Stoke City claim a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that it felt like his side had suffered a defeat after Stoke City fought back to earn a 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane.

The hosts appeared to be cruising after Eric Dier and Nacer Chadli handed them a comfortable lead, but late goals from Marko Arnautovic and Mame Biram Diouf ensured that the Potters returned home with a point.

Pochettino conceded that Spurs should have responded better to seeing Stoke reduce the deficit, despite suggesting that he has been pleased with most of what he has seen in their opening two matches.

"It feels like a defeat," the Argentine told reporters. "I'm very disappointed. We need to improve our game. After the penalty we were a bit soft and it's this we need to improve.

"Until the penalty it was clear we dominated the game and had the better chances. After the goal we gave them more opportunities to score and then it's 2-2. It's a bad feeling, but this is football.

"This is the beginning of the season, we have taken only one point from two games but I think the performance against Manchester United and today for the first 70 minutes was good, but we need to be more consistent during 90 minutes."

Spurs will continue their search for a win when they visit Leicester City next Saturday.
