Jamie Carragher tips Tottenham Hotspur for title challenge

Tottenham Hotspur will have "no problem" finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season and could also challenge for the title, according to Jamie Carragher.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur will have "no problem" finishing in the top four in the Premier League this season and has also tipped the capital side to challenge for the title.

Following Spurs' 2-1 win at Watford on Monday, Carragher took to social media to claim that the London club "have a chance" of winning the league this term.

The 37-year-old has now expanded on those claims, calling Mauricio Pochettino's side "the most consistent" team in the division and insisting that they have the players needed to finish top of the pile this term.

"I think they'll have no problem getting top four, Spurs, I think now they've got an outside chance for the title," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"We spoke about Leicester being the one you'd never expect but Tottenham's never a name you use, or I associate, with winning titles. Not since the early #60s. They've never really challenged for one.

"But the job [Mauricio] Pochettino's done, the team that they've got, the keeper they've got, Jamie [Redknapp]'s mentioned the striker, the two centre backs, they've got the best defence in the league, but goal difference, so everything points to a great job he's doing there. The way the league's going, with teams dropping points left, right and centre, at this moment they're the most consistent."

Tottenham, who have only lost twice in the league this season and just once since the opening day of the campaign away to Manchester United, currently sit fourth in the table, just four points off the summit.
