Andre Villas-Boas left cursing luck following Newcastle United defeat

Andre Villas-Boas believes that Tottenham Hotspur deserved to take something from today's game at home to Newcastle United.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has said that his team were unlucky to lose today's game against Newcastle United at home.

Loic Remy's seventh goal of the season gave the Magpies the lead in the 13th minute at White Hart Lane, but it was Tim Krul's inspired second-half display that ultimately won the points for Alan Pardew's men.

"We gave the first half advantage to Newcastle, although I think we were very unlucky during all of the game," he told Sky Sports News. "We had so many good, good chances that I think the result is very unfair.

"Obviously Newcastle came in strong and really played well in the first half. I think they deserved to get that lead.

"Still we had some good opportunities in the first half, then in the second half if we had been a bit more lucky we could have drawn the game and gone on from there. We gave a good response in the second half."

The result leaves Spurs seventh in the Premier League with 20 points from 11 games.
