Former Chelsea midfielder Andy Townsend has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have lost their "zip and sparkle" following a damaging defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have dropped to third in Group E as a result of a 1-0 loss at Wembley this evening.
With two games left to play, the North London outfit sit four points adrift of leaders AS Monaco and two behind tonight's German opponents.
After the game, Townsend told BBC Radio 5 live: "I don't think Tottenham can have any complaints. There was a lot of effort and huff and puff but the real zip and sparkle they have had so often has gone from their game at the moment.
"Their players are all looking for someone to get them in front and be the difference and they don't have those players. They don't have anyone on the top of their game at the moment."
Spurs have not won any of their last six games in all competitions, but they remain three points adrift of the top three in the Premier League table.
