Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino to quit following Nicola Cortese exit?

A report suggests that Mauricio Pochettino is on the verge of stepping down as Southampton manager.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is allegedly on the verge of leaving the club following the departure of chairman Nicola Cortese.

The Argentine is considering his future after being pressured to sell key players by owner Katharina Liebherr, according to The Mirror.

"Mauricio is very angry and hurt by the departure of Nicola and is seriously considering his future," a purported Southampton insider is quoted as saying. "He said previously he could not see a Southampton without Nicola at the helm and has not changed that opinion."

Liebherr, who has named herself as Cortese's temporary replacement, is said to have told Pochettino that star players including Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana must be offloaded.
