Report: Real Sociedad meet Arsenal for Carlos Vela talks

A report claims that Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and vice president Angel Oyarzun have flown to London to discuss the future of Carlos Vela with Arsenal.

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay and vice president Angel Oyarzun have reportedly flown to London to discuss the future of Carlos Vela with Premier League side Arsenal.

The Mexican international officially moved to the Spanish side from Arsenal in 2011 having spent the previous season on loan with the Basque outfit.

However, as part of the agreement, Arsenal retained 50% of the player's rights and, as a result, can re-sign Vela this summer for as little as £3.5m.

According to AS, Sociedad have made the trip to London with the view of buying the full rights for the 25-year-old, who scored 16 times in 37 league games last season.

Should the two clubs come to an agreement, Vela is expected to sign a new long-term contract with his Spanish club despite strong interest from Atletico Madrid.
