Luka Modric is on the verge of penning a new contract with Real Madrid, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 35-year-old remains an important figure for Los Blancos, contributing four goals and two assists in 25 appearances during the 2020-21 campaign.
The midfielder's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent months as his current deal at the Bernabeu is due to expire at the end of June.
However, according to Romano, Modric is staying with Zinedine Zidane's side, having agreed a new contract.
"The agreement for the renewal of the contract Luka Modric is 'imminent', last details have been sorted out with Real Madrid and soon it'll be time to sign. Modric is staying," Romano tweeted.
The Croatia international has scored 26 times and registered 57 assists in 368 appearances for Madrid, winning two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and four Champions League crowns.
