Zinedine Zidane has talked up the 'importance' of Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez after giving the attacking pair a chance to shine in Real Madrid's victory against Leganes.
In the absence of the rested Cristiano Ronaldo and benched Gareth Bale, Vazquez found the net for the third time this season as Los Blancos claimed a 3-1 win in Madrid.
Vazquez, who also bagged an assist, has now started eight times in La Liga this term, while teammate Asensio has been used 12 times from the off.
Asked about the performances of the duo, Zidane told reporters at his post-match presser: "I think they have always been important for me. I'm glad for Lucas because he deserved [the goal].
"He fought before the game. He was not well, he played a great game like Asensio, everybody in general, and [Mateo] Kovacic. He has played a lot lately and he has done great.
"We want to continue. We have had complicated moments and we have to take advantage to continue. There are a group of 25 players here, they know it's difficult. What matters is that they are very good and they show that when they have to play."
Victory for Madrid lifted them up to third in the Spanish top flight, 14 points adrift of leaders Barcelona.
