Enrique Cerezo: 'Barcelona never out of title race'

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo is not surprised that the Primera Division title race was blown wide open this weekend.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has said that he is not surprised that the Primera Division title race was blown wide open this weekend.

Barcelona's chances of retaining the title appeared to be over when they dropped points in a 2-2 draw with Getafe on Saturday.

However, Atletico's 2-0 defeat at Levante on Sunday and Real Madrid's 2-2 draw with Valencia means that all three teams are stil firmly in the race.

"Everyone's enjoying it. They said Barca were out but I never believed it," he told RAC1.

"I always said that until you're mathematically satisfied, you can't give a verdict. A lot can happen to the theories."

As it stands, Atletico are three points clear of second-placed Barcelona at the top of the table, while Madrid, who have played a game less, sit five points behind the leaders.
