Reading have reportedly told midfielder Jay Tabb that he is free to find a new club before the transfer window closes.
Tabb has started 12 Premier League matches for the Royals this season but is surplus to requirements at the Madejski Stadium, according to Sky Sports News.
Despite starting in last week's FA Cup win over Crawley Town Tabb was a peripheral figure during Reading's run of festive fixtures, failing to come off the substitutes' bench for three successive matches.
The 28-year-old has been in Berkshire since 2009 after signing from Coventry City.
Royals boss Brian McDermott has been active in the transfer market this month, signing Daniel Carrico and Hope Akpan to strengthen his squad in the battle for Premier League survival.
