Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that deadline day signing Aaron Ramsey will miss Wednesday's Old Firm derby against Celtic.
Ramsey, 31, moved to Ibrox in the final few hours of the January transfer window, joining on loan from Juventus until the end of the season.
Gers supporters would have hoped to see the Wales international thrown straight into the action for their eagerly-anticipated clash at Parkhead; however, Van Bronckhorst has confirmed that the midfielder is still recovering from a minor injury.
"No, Aaron will not be in the squad. He's been out for a couple of weeks, he trained with the squad today, he looks really good, but tomorrow comes too soon for him," the Dutchman told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
"We'll assess him this week but I think we can welcome him really quickly to the squad."
Speaking about Ramsey's arrival at Ibrox, Van Bronckhorst added: "For me, it was clear that we wanted to sign him because I think he will be a great asset to the team. And of course now with the last months of the season on the way, he can help us be successful.
"Hard work of course from [sporting director] Ross Wilson and the club [was so important] to be able to bring in a player with the quality of Aaron."
Filip Helander and Ianis Hagi both remain sidelined for Rangers but Van Bronckhorst revealed that Leon Balogun has returned to full fitness and will be in contention to feature in midweek.
After drawing their last two Scottish Premiership matches, league leaders Rangers will be looking to return to winning ways against Celtic and extend their two-point lead at the summit.
