Salvatore Sirigu: 'Paris Saint-Germain are improving'

Salvatore Sirigu believes that Paris Saint-Germain are close to hitting top form in their bid to retain the Ligue 1 title.

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu has claimed that the Ligue 1 champions were showing signs of returning to top form before the international break.

Laurent Blanc's side return to action against Metz on Friday evening looking for a fifth successive league win, and Sirigu believes that PSG have put their poor defensive displays behind them.

"We've conceded goals that we could have avoided, goals we could have prevented at the very start of the move. Other times we made individual errors that really cost us," the Italian shot-stopper told the Ligue 1 website.

"Against Monaco, for example, it was like a game of pinball the way the ball bounced around. If you were to repeat that piece of play again, the ball wouldn't necessarily drop in the same place, and sometimes we'd play matches where we didn't take any risks at all and we'd concede from the only chance the opposition were able to conjure in the whole match.

"That's frustrating because we've really paid for the errors we've committed, but it has also helped us to wake up and realise where we need to improve and where we need to work the most. We are progressing."

Despite being one point behind leaders Marseille, PSG are yet to be beaten this season.
