Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lionel Messi has suffered his worst start to a league season for 16 years following Sunday's goalless draw with Marseille in Ligue 1.
The six-time Ballon d'Or winner was left frustrated as Les Parisiens dropped points for the second time this season, while a PSG attack was also stopped when a spectator invaded the pitch and ran towards Messi when he had the ball at his feet.
Messi already has three goals to his name from three Champions League games for Les Parisiens, but he is without a goal or assist in four Ligue 1 games since joining in the summer.
By failing to open his league account for PSG at the fourth attempt, Messi has now suffered his worst start to a top-flight campaign since 2005-06, when he was just 18 years old.
It took the Argentine six games before he scored his first goal of the 2005-06 La Liga season with Barcelona, and he ended that season with six goals from 17 appearances before missing the final two months with a torn muscle.
Messi will seek to get off the mark in PSG's next Ligue 1 encounter, which comes this Friday against reigning champions Lille at the Parc des Princes.
