How Paris Saint-Germain could line up against Montpellier

Sports Mole looks at how Paris Saint-Germain could line up in Wednesday's Ligue 1 clash with Montpellier.

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to extend their lead at the top of Ligue 1 when they welcome Montpellier to the French capital on Wednesday night.

Sunday's 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne means that PSG currently have a 12-point lead over second-placed Lille at the summit, while they still have two games in hand.

PSG will face Montpellier, Nimes, Dijon and Caen in their next four domestic matches, before welcoming Manchester United for the second leg of their last-16 Champions League clash on March 6.

The home side are the overwhelming favourites to triumph on Wednesday night, but Montpellier are currently sixth in the table, just two points off fourth-placed Marseille.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how PSG could line up in the Ligue 1 fixture.

POSS PSG XI vs. MON

Out: Lassana Diarra (knee), Neymar (foot), Edinson Cavani (hip), Thomas Meunier (concussion)

PSG are still without the services of key duo Neymar and Edinson Cavani, who remain on the sidelines with foot and hip injuries respectively.

Kylian Mbappe has not been harmed by the absence of Neymar and Cavani, though, with the 20-year-old scoring his 24th goal of the season in Sunday's 1-0 win over Saint-Etienne.

Lassana Diarra is a long-term absentee with a knee injury, while Thomas Meunier is unlikely to be rushed back for this match as he continues to recover from a concussion.

Marco Verratti was given a rest against Saint-Etienne, but the midfielder is expected to return to the starting XI for this match and could be joined by Dani Alves in midfield.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could make the bench following an illness, while it seems likely that 19-year-old Moussa Diaby will be given another chance to impress in the final third of the field.

Colin Dagba will also be among those hoping to earn some more minutes on Wednesday night.
