Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery admits that progressing past Real Madrid in the Champions League would be "massive" for the French club.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery has acknowledged that he is keen for his side to prove that they are capable of defeating the best clubs in Europe.

After the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe during the summer, PSG were regarded as one of the pre-tournament favourites to win the Champions League, but the French giants trail Real Madrid by a 3-1 scoreline ahead of the second leg of their last-16 tie.

Emery has reiterated the faith he has in his first-team squad, but admits that the club need a defining result to cement their place among European football's elite sides.

At a press conference, the 46-year-old told reporters: "This is a huge match for us in every aspect as the Champions League is crucial in our objectives but also as a marker for future big games.

"This is a massive moment for the club and for all of France, we know we are capable of winning against the best teams in the world."

Defender Dani Alves has also said that PSG have 'a point to prove' in the match at the Parc des Princes.
