Scottish League One roundup: Ayr United stay top, Peterhead score seven

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's action in the Scottish League One.

Ayr United remain at the summit of the Scottish League One table having recorded a comfortable 3-0 home victory over Airdrieonians.

Ayr took a 26th-minute lead through a long-range Jordan Preston strike.

Michael Donald doubled the advantage for Ian McCall's team right before the half-time whistle with another effort from outside the box.

Alan Trouten completed the scoring with a 62nd-minute penalty, before Airdrie were reduced to ten men after Chris O'Neil saw red after 69 minutes, as Ayr retained top spot in the league.

Peterhead recorded a huge win by putting seven goals past Cowdenbeath.

Jim McInally's team took an early lead through a Leighton McIntosh header after 16 minutes.

The Blue Toon doubled their lead a minute later as Jordan Brown rolled home.

Brown recorded his brace in the 32nd minute, before McIntosh got his second two minutes before half time.

McIntosh scored his hat-trick after 55 minutes, Rory McAllister made it six in the 59th minute before Scott Ferries tapped home from close range with two minutes left in the tie to complete the rout.

Dunfermline Athletic went ahead away to Albion Rovers as Andy Geggan headed in from a Ryan Wallace cross after 15 minutes.

Rovers replied five minutes later through Josh Mullin, who fired home a 20-yard volley that went in off the crossbar, as the clash ended all square.

Alan Cook's 29th-minute strike gave Stenhousemuir the lead against Brechin City.

Isaac Layne equalised for City after 72 minutes, before Colin McMenamin's 81st-minute goal handed the Warriors a vital away victory.

Willie Dyer saw red for the hosts in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Stranraer and Forfar Athletic played out a scoreless draw.
