Simon Cox eyes early return

Nottingham Forest striker Simon Cox reveals that he could be back to full fitness sooner than expected having missed the last three games through injury.

Nottingham Forest striker Simon Cox has revealed that he could make an early return from his foot injury.

Cox suffered a detached ligament in his side's 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last month and was expected to be out for as long as eight weeks.

However, the Republic of Ireland international insists that he is recovering well and is hopeful of a swift return to full fitness.

"I feel good, I'm progressing day by day and hopefully it won't be too much longer," Cox told the club's official website.

"I've been away for a week and a bit of warm weather has helped me. I'm not on crutches any more or using the air cast boot. I'm walking around pain-free."

Cox, 25, has scored four goals in his 16 appearances so far this season.
