Elliott Bennett bemoans "frustrating" Birmingham City stalemate

Norwich winger Elliott Bennett believes that his side showed signs of vast improvement despite being held to a goalless draw by Birmingham in the Championship.

Elliott Bennett was keen to take the positives from Norwich City's goalless draw against Birmingham City on Saturday, claiming that his side are on the right track to promotion.

The Canaries had the better of the chances at Carrow Road, but a mixture of good goalkeeping from Darren Randolph and some fine defending - which saw a shot saved off the line late on - helped the hosts claim a valuable point.

One of five players recalled by manager Alex Neil following last week's home defeat against Brentford, Bennett claimed afterwards that the improvements were clear to see at St Andrew's.

"It was frustrating; we had the lion's share of possession and at times moved the ball really well," he told the club's official website. "We just didn't have that real goal threat we've had throughout the season.

"There were some times where we looked good and there were a couple of near-misses, but it wasn't to be. On the whole, compared to last week, it was a marked improvement, and you can start to see what the gaffer wants us to do. We wanted to win the game, and if anyone deserved to, it was us.

"It's full credit to the team for keeping a clean sheet. As the gaffer said in the dressing room, if we can keep clean sheets and get it right at the other end then we're a force to be reckoned with."

Norwich, who return to action next weekend when they host bottom side Blackpool, now sit three points off the playoff places.
