Michael O'Neill looks to Euro 2016 campaign

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill says that he is already thinking about the qualification campaign for Euro 2016.

Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill has revealed that he is already thinking about qualifying for Euro 2016.

O'Neill's side, who have failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, currently sit fourth in Group H ahead of their final qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Israel.

The Northern Ireland boss believes that he can keep his current squad together ahead of Euro 2016 qualifying, which will begin next year.

"The conversations have all been positive with the senior players and if I get the opportunity to take this team forward, which I hope to do, I hope to do it with the same set of players I have now," O'Neill told Sky Sports News.

"I think the age of the squad, there has been quite a bit of transition in the last 18 months and we have a number of younger players who are learning on the job in terms of where they are in their club careers and where they are going to in their international careers.

"But I think we have the makings of a good team here, certainly a competitive team and a young and hungry team."

Northern Ireland face Azerbaijan this evening.
