Bordeaux have leapfrogged Nice into fifth place in Ligue 1 with a narrow 1-0 victory over their rivals away from home.
The visitors had the better chances in the first half as Jaroslav Plasil, David Bellion and Henri Saivet all tested home goalkeeper David Ospina.
Francis Gillot's side finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Saivet fired in from close range after being set up by Plasil.
Nice could have restored parity six minutes later had Neal Maupay's shot from the right side of the Bordeaux box not come off the crossbar.
However, thereafter it was the visiting side who dominated proceedings at Stade Municipal du Ray, Bellion and Florian Marange both going close to adding a second in quick succession.
