Steven Taylor has said that he is excited to experience a new challenge in the United States after completing a move to Portland Timbers.
Taylor has ended a 13-year association with the Magpies to make the switch to the MLS, and the versatile defender has admitted that he cannot wait to get started at his new club.
The 30-year-old told The Chronicle: "The excitement I've got is like when I left school at 16 to play professional, it's like a new lease of life.
"Everyone at Portland Timbers is making me very welcome I just want to get playing again. My main goal is to win stuff and enjoy my football playing week in, week out, there is no better feeling than that."
Taylor made 268 appearances for Newcastle during his time at St James' Park.
