Report: Georginio Wijnaldum price set at £25m

A report claims that Everton are quoted £40m by Newcastle United for Netherlands international Georginio Wijnaldum.

Newcastle United have reportedly slapped a £25m asking price on Netherlands midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Dutchman moved to St James' Park from PSV Eindhoven last summer and despite Newcastle's troubles in the Premier League, Wijnaldum managed 11 league goals during an impressive first campaign in England.

It is understood that the 25-year-old has informed the Magpies that he wants to leave following their relegation to the Championship and Roma have been strongly linked with a move.

According to the Sunday People, Everton enquired as to the availability of the attacking midfielder and were quoted £25m, which is £10m more than Newcastle paid PSV during last summer's transfer window.

Wijnaldum still has four years left to run on his current deal on Tyneside.
