Newcastle United are reportedly considering a fresh approach for Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Craven Cottage this month, with the Magpies and Championship rivals Aston Villa both thought to be interested.
Rafael Benitez's side made provisional enquiries with Fulham earlier this month but were quoted a fee of £20m for a player who joined the side for just £3.6m 18 months ago.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have "not given up hope" on Cairney and are debating whether to make "a further bid" for him before the window shuts in a fortnight's time.
In light of the rumours, Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has said that he is planning to offer Cairney "a new contract and more money".
Cairney has 13 goals in 63 Championship appearances for the London side.
