Newcastle United have a £10m bid accepted for Marseille striker Loic Remy, according to reports.

Newcastle United have reportedly had a £10m bid accepted by Marseille for French international striker Loic Remy.

Magpies boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he is desperate to add depth to his squad following after a difficult start to the Premier League season.

Remy has been courted by a number of English clubs but Newcastle are the first to meet Marseille's asking price, according to the Daily Mail.

The 26-year-old has scored just once in Ligue 1 this season and turned down the chance to speak to Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp last weekend.

Remy is thought to have been attracted to Newcastle by the club's French international contingent, which includes Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and new signing Mathieu Debuchy.

Newcastle stopped their slide down the table yesterday with a battling point away at Norwich City.
