Alan Pardew says that Newcastle United need more experienced players to cope during their injury crisis.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed his anger at the club's lack of experience.

The Magpies led Manchester United three times during their Boxing Day clash, only to eventually lose 4-3 at Old Trafford.

Pardew believes that his side need more experienced players to cope through their current injury problems.

"We've got numerous injuries, we had a very young midfield today and if we had a bit more experience we could have got something," said Pardew. "We've got no Cheick [Tiote], no Hatem [Ben Arfa], no [Yohan] Cabaye, no [Jonas] Gutierrez...blimey.

"We've given a great account of ourselves but we've got no points, and that has to hurt. The goals against us were too soft and that's something we have to address. The last goal should be avoided really, it was a simple goal...and you end up with a really horrible afternoon when it could have been so much better for us.

"It was a great effort but unfortunately no points. Our fans were brilliant today and we should have got something or them in my opinion."

Newcastle travel to Arsenal on Saturday.
