Newcastle United manager John Carver has admitted that Jonas Gutierrez could take part in their Premier League game at home against Aston Villa this Saturday.
The 31-year-old overcame testicular cancer last year, undergoing surgery and a spell of chemotherapy treatment in Argentina.
Carver told BBC Sport: "Jonas Gutierrez is in the squad. There's a possibility he could be on the bench and that's a massive lift for everyone."
Gutierrez, who hasn't played in the Premier League since April, returned to Newcastle in November after beating his illness.
