Newcastle United's Vurnon Anita: 'We must forget our past troubles'

Vurnon Anita calls on his Newcastle United teammates to forget their past failings and focus on securing Premier League survival.

Newcastle United's Vurnon Anita believes that it is imperative for the team to forget about their past failings and look ahead to this Saturday's crucial match against Queens Park Rangers.

The Magpies are just two points above the relegation zone in the Premier League table.

If they manage to beat already-relegated QPR and Hull City lose to Tottenham Hotspur, then John Carver's side will retain their top-flight status.

Newcastle ended a run of eight defeats with a 1-1 draw at St James' Park last Saturday.

"It's important to put the past behind us and move on," The Northern Echo quotes Anita as saying. "We can't keep constantly looking back and talking about things that have happened now."

Newcastle will finish the season at home to West Ham United on May 24.
