Gonzalo Higuain "proud" of Napoli

Gonzalo Higuain believes that Napoli played a "great game" after beating Juventus in the final of the Italian Super Cup.

Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has claimed that his team can "beat anyone" following their victory in the Italian Super Cup final against Juventus.

Higuain scored twice to cancel out a double from Carlos Tevez as the two teams could not be separated following 120 minutes of play in Doha.

Penalties were then needed to determine the winners and it was Napoli who came out on top by triumphing 6-5 after a mammoth shootout.

"The truth is we had a great game, I am proud of this team against a strong Juventus side, but we showed that if we have the hunger and intensity then we can beat anyone," he told Rai Sport.

"I am so happy for this Super Cup. I thank this team, as we did everything and more to win the game. This is for the President, the fans who are watching far away from the city. We needed this triumph to emerge from our current position.

"We must be more consistent in Serie A, as if we play like this then we can aim high. There are six months left and we can have a great season."

Higuain has now scored 12 goals in 25 games for Napoli this season.
