Manchester United's Phil Jones expected to be fit for World Cup

Manchester United interim boss Ryan Giggs says that Phil Jones should be fit for the World Cup in Brazil, despite suffering a shoulder injury in midweek.

Manchester United interim manager Ryan Giggs has revealed that defender Phil Jones should be fit for the World Cup this summer, despite suffering a shoulder injury this week.

The 22-year-old is thought to have seen a specialist this week after injuring himself during Tuesday night's 3-1 victory over Hull City.

Fears that Jones could be ruled out of England's campaign in Brazil this summer arose after he was reportedly spotted leaving hospital with his arm in a sling.

However, Giggs told reporters in Friday's press conference: "He's out of Sunday's game but should be okay for the World Cup."

United will take on Southampton at St Mary's in their final game of the season.
