Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is reportedly on the verge of joining Arsenal on a permanent transfer worth £16m.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after Louis van Gaal told him that he could find another club.
The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland were understood to be interested in a move for the England international, but Arsenal have emerged as frontrunners for his signature on deadline day.
Welbeck, who is currently at Arsenal's training ground with the England squad, was rumoured to be undergoing a medical with the Gunners earlier this evening.
The North London club denied the speculation, but reports have since surfaced that the transfer is now back on.
It was initially understood that any move would be a temporary one, but the latest reports suggest that Arsenal will now sign him on a permanent basis.
Welbeck has scored 29 goals in 139 appearances for United.
