Chelsea are reportedly ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
After playing an important part in Lille's resurgence over the past 18 months, the 20-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top European clubs.
While several Premier League sides have been linked in the past, it has been suggested that Chelsea and United are the frontrunners for the prospect.
According to Metro, Soumare is currently leaning towards an eventual switch to Stamford Bridge, whether that be in January or the summer.
Remaining at Lille until the end of the season could suit both parties, with the French club attempting to finish in the top three in France's top flight and Chelsea being well stocked for options in central midfield.
Soumare, who has made 24 outings in Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season, is said to be valued at £40m.
