Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer striker Wayne Rooney a new contract this autumn, despite the forward's reported intentions to leave Old Trafford.
The England international has been the subject of two rejected bids from Chelsea, but reports emerged yesterday claiming that the 27-year-old will not hand in a transfer request after Blues boss Jose Mourinho told the player to force the issue if he wants to leave the club.
With Rooney expected to stay put for the remainder of the 2013-14 season, it is understood that United will discuss a new contract with the striker once the summer transfer window closes, according to the Daily Mail.
Rooney has one year left on his current deal.
