Report: Manchester United still interested in AS Monaco's Fabinho

A report claims that versatile AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho is still wanted by Manchester United, despite Jose Mourinho reaching an agreement to sign Nemanja Matic.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly still hoping to lure AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho to Manchester United even after sealing the capture of Nemanja Matic.

The Red Devils are expected to confirm the arrival of Matic from Chelsea in the next fortnight after reaching an agreement with Premier League rivals Chelsea.

It was thought that United would therefore end their interest in Fabinho, but The Independent reports that Mourinho is keen to further upgrade his midfield options and will push ahead with his pursuit of the Brazil international.

Fabinho recently admitted that he "would be very tempted" to link up with Mourinho, who he spent time working under for a short time while at former club Real Madrid.

A Fluminense youth product, Fabinho is comfortable playing in holding midfield or at right-back, ensuring that the Red Devils also have adequate cover for the ageing Antonio Valencia.
