Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to challenge Manchester United for the services of Ilkay Gundogan this summer.
In recent days the Red Devils have been heavily linked with the 24-year-old midfielder, who is believed to be open to the prospect of departing Borussia Dortmund.
However, United will now face competition from Bayern, with head coach Pep Guardiola determined to add to his midfield options during the pre-season break, according to Bild.
Bayern have a track record of signing players from Dortmund, having acquired both Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski from their domestic rivals in the last three years.
Gundogan, who has just over 12 months left to run on his contract at Westfalenstadion, is said to be valued at around £20m.
