Real Madrid have reportedly approached Manchester United regarding the availability of Guillermo Varela.
The 21-year-old joined the Red Devils last summer from Penarol for £1.75m, but he is yet to feature in a senior encounter.
However, that has not put off Madrid, who want the Uruguayan to join their B team Castilla, which is managed by Zinedine Zidane, according to the Daily Mail.
The report adds that Los Blancos would initially be keen to sign Varela on loan, with a view to making the deal a permanent one next year for £4m.
The two clubs have recently been in negotiations regarding the transfer of Angel di Maria, who is expected to be confirmed as a United player later today.
